Union Survey: Over 80% of Samsung Electronics Foundry Staff Plan to Quit Within Two Years
Data released yesterday local time by the Samsung Electronics branch of Samsung Group’s cross-corporate union showed that among surveyed employees of Samsung Electronics’ Foundry business, 62% reported a "very high" intention to resign within two years, with an additional 19% selecting "high". Combined, the figure hits 81.5%.
For reference, the overall short-term turnover intention among surveyed staff across Samsung Electronics’ entire Device Solutions (DS) Division (semiconductor arm) stands at 49.5%. The Memory Business recorded 32.7%, while the System LSI Business posted the second-highest rate at 75.4%.

Industry analysts point out that the uncapped special performance bonus equivalent to 10.5% of operating profit, agreed upon by Samsung’s semiconductor labor and management sides in May this year, is allocated separately by business unit. This means Foundry or System LSI employees with identical base annual salaries may take home only one-third of the compensation received by their Memory Business colleagues. Staff in non-memory divisions argue their pay fails to fairly reflect their workload and labor input.
